When it comes to hair removal, I have tried every method available. Shaving, waxing, electrolysis, Nair, and laser. Laser has been my favorite, and not just because I am paid to do it. I chose to bring it into my business because I fully believe in it. Now, we all have tried shaving, I'm sure. And waxing is natural to come after that. But what if I told you that Laser is the best method for near-permanent hair removal? Let's talk about it...
Shaving
Shaving is a pretty simple, easy-to-do method to remove hair, right? But what if you're on a time crunch? Or what if the razor irritates your skin? What if you just don't feel like doing a full-body shave? And think about how much you spend on razors! The average person spends about $20,000 over their lifetime buying supplies to stay smooth. That's a down payment right there that you are literally tossing into the garbage. Yeah, shaving is simple, but it doesn't get rid of your hair follicles. The hair typically grows back within 1-3 days. On top of that, the chance of getting ingrown hairs or razor burn is high.
Waxing
Don't come at me for saying this, but whenever I am doing a laser Brazilian treatment, I can ALWAYS tell if the person has waxed before. Better than shaving, waxing removes hair from the skin by the root. Results last longer than shaving, maybe 2-4 weeks. And you are pretty smooth after. BUT!!!! You have to let that hair grow in a bit before getting another wax. Here's something you don't hear very often. My electroly teacher taught me this, and I will never forget it. Your brain, when it comes to hair, has 2 jobs... to protect you and to adorn you. When you wax and pull that hair out by its root, your brain gets an immediate signal that it's not doing such a good job of protecting you. So what is the brain to do now? It sends signals to those follicles, prompting them to grow hair back thicker and stronger. If you're waxing consistently, you might not notice your hair getting darker... but me? I always notice.
Laser Hair Removal
By far my favorite, laser hair removal has shortened my shower time and left me with smooth, silky skin. I haven't had to shave in years! Laser works by targeting the pigment in the follicle. Yes, it is unfortunate that if you are blonde, gray, red, or white haired... laser won't work for you. But if your hair is dark enough, it is the best option. After your first treatment, you should notice about a 15-25% reduction in hair growth. With each appointment, your hair gets thinner and lighter until the follicles stop growing hair overall. Laser hair removal typically removes 95% of hair, with the remaining 5% becoming barely noticeable after a series of treatments.
